Power Week 2015

Power Week 2015

Every year we have what we like to call Power Week. It’s an open invitation to anyone interested in doing construction and renovation projects around the ranch. This year we had our biggest turnout ever for a Power Week, and the group got a heck of a lot done.

In four days they were able to install new plumbing and pour fresh concrete to expand the capacity of our public bathrooms, build and wire our first workshop since the 2013 fire, make and install new screens for our cabins, make headway fixing the floor of one of our seminary quads, provide solar electricity to our new guest rooms, and help finish up our summer staff cabin.

This isn’t the glamorous stuff. These are the workers who come to build up a ministry that they barely get to see in action. What a gift, to enable us to better reach Mexico for Christ.

Thankfully Power Week this year coincided with a great kids’ camp from Tijuana, so the workers had the chance to see some of the impact that their work has. Spectrum and Caravan ministries put on their annual kids’ camp at Agua Viva, bringing over 110 kids from some of the roughest barrios of Tijuana. To stay in nice cabins (many built by previous Power Week participants), swim in a pool, and to see trees and enjoy their shade, all while receiving the word of God, is an incredible opportunity for these kids.

Seeing these kids playing at the ranch without any worries helps give us perspective on why we do what we do. We want to thank all those, especially those who have come during Power Week, who help continue the ministries of Agua Viva. We are blessed to know and work alongside you.
