José Luis and Nora Martinez

Alas, Ensenada Baja California.

José Luis and Nora’s lives were profoundly shaken when their daughter Abi was diagnosed with autism. They knew very little about what this meant and how to care for their beautiful daughter. Shortly afterward, they left their home in Veracruz and came to Agua Viva to serve as volunteers and later as staff.

As they deepened their understanding of autism and other disabilities, they soon connected with other individuals and families with special needs. They discovered that the church in Mexico has very little information and training on how to care for these individuals, leaving many special needs families feeling excluded from the church.

This realization led to the birth of Alas (Wings), a unique church tailored to love, care for, and share the Good News with families with special needs
